Why we built an eco-sustainable website
Yoto was born from the belief that the web should be part of the solution, not the problem. Here is the story, the motivations and the results of our approach.
Why an eco-sustainable website
The internet is responsible for approximately 3.7% of global CO₂ emissions, more than the entire aviation industry. Every web page loaded consumes energy: from the server hosting it, to the network transmitting it, to the device displaying it. A traditional website produces on average 0.5 grams of CO₂ per page visited (estimation methodology). Our site achieved an A+ rating on Website Carbon Calculator and ranks in the top 1% of the cleanest sites in the world. This is not a coincidence: it is the result of conscious design choices applied at every stage of development.

Why it is important to act now
The Empowering Consumers Directive (EU 2024/825), in force from 27 September 2026 (transposed in Italy via Legislative Decree 30/2026), requires companies to substantiate every environmental claim with verifiable evidence. Saying "we are eco-friendly" without concrete data exposes you to sanctions. Building a truly sustainable website is not just ethics: it is strategy. A lightweight site loads faster, improves user experience, reduces bounce rate and converts more. Google rewards fast and accessible sites with better rankings.
